Amsterdam at Easter

Amsterdam at Easter

With Easter just around the corner we would like to show you all the exciting things that are going on in Amsterdam during one of the most lovely times of the year: spring! (Funny thing: ‘spring’ is also a Dutch word, which means ‘jump’!)

Easter is the most beautiful time of the year to be in Amsterdam because it is prime-tulip-time. The city is completely decorated with flowers and the air is crisp – enjoy Amsterdam during the Easter-weekend, with all the exciting events happening you are guaranteed to have a great time!

Love flowers?
Good, because Easter is the best time to pay a visit to the Amsterdam Tulip Museum, the Botanical Garden ‘Hortus Botanicus’ or the beautiful flower garden just outside Amsterdam ‘Keukenhof’ (see picture).

More of a festival lover?
During the Easter weekend there are various famous festivals such as the techno-festivals DGTL, HYTE and Awakenings Easter special. Let us know if we can help you choose the best party in Amsterdam!

During the Easter holidays, the oldest and most famous Zoo of the Netherlands, ‘Artis’, is hosting a scavenger hunt through the zoo and the opportunity to watch little chicks hatch from their eggs.
Farms around Amsterdam also allow children to cuddle and feed new-born lambs – these are called ‘lamb days’ and happen only during Easter!

Easter brunch and boat tour:
With the weather clearing up and spring setting in, how about a fun boat trip with friends, a lover, or family? The Pancake Boat (a.k.a. the ‘Pannenkoekenboot’) hosts Easter brunches and gives you a tour of the city. Fun and delicious!

Amsterdam is one of the European capitals that is most famous for its unique fashion trends. Most shops are open during the Easter holidays. Visit the Kalverstraat, Utrechtesestraat, PC Hooftstraat for a huge variety of shops and the nine streets (‘9 straatjes’), Waterlooplein and ‘De Pijp’-area for many authentic vintage shops.
